Questions

If you could direct a film adaptation of any book, which would it be?
It has to be Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake novels, starting with Guilty Pleasures. I was disappointed when nothing came of the planned tv series, it would be great to see Anita kicking vampire and werewolf ass, and raising the dead. Also the ethical and emotional conflict Anita faces when she becomes romantically entangled with the beings she had always considered the enemy.
I want The Silmarilion to be adapted into film, but will cross my fingers and hope Peter Jackson gets pulled back for another visit to MiddleEarth.

Where in the world would you most like to visit that you haven’t been to yet?
I would love to visit my Mother’s home of St Helena (a remote island in the South Atlantic Ocean). Hopefully the newly built airport will be operational soon, making travel there more straightforward.

Is there a particular animal you would like to see in the wild?
Gray wolves. I saw a fascinating documentary a while back about a man who lived with a wolf pack. As a mad dog-mum I loved seeing the similarities between the two species, but also got a new perspective on the differences between my beloved dogs and their wild relatives.

Thanks for completing the award – I like your answers a lot. Have you ever read John Bradshaw’s In Defence of Dogs? It has a lot of interesting stuff about dogs from a scientific perspective.
